Assault with a BB gun, a brick and myriad drug charges are all a part of July’s Washington County Grand Jury report.

Aaron C. Goins, 46, whose address was unknown by the Washington County Prosecutor’s Office, was indicted for two second-degree felony counts of felonious assualt and one count of aggravated menacing, a first-degree misdemeanor.

Washington County Assistant Prosecutor David Silwani explained that on July 7 in Cutler, a mother was placing her eight-month-old in her vehicle after visiting family when Goins began shooting at her and her infant with a BB gun.

“One of the BBs hit the baby,” he explained.

He said Goins continued to shoot at the pair up to the intersection of Ohio 550 and 555 which was near where both Goins lives and where the victims’ family lives.

Meanwhile, Zachary Myers, 28, of 100 State St., Marietta, was indicted for felonious assault, a second-degree felony.

The Marietta Police Department reported that Myers, who has previously served prison time, hit Christopher Barrows in the face with a brick.

“It was enough physical harm to land Mr. Barrows in the hospital,” explained Silwani.

Barrows was reportedly near Myers’ vehicle when Myers engaged in a verbal disagreement on July 12.

Also indicted was Richard W. Hawkins, 48, of 829 Ridge St., Marietta, who faces indictments in three separate instances:

¯ He was indicted for trafficking in heroin, a fourth-degree felony, after allegedly selling heroin in a controlled buy to the Major Crimes Task Force on Sept. 15, 2016 outside of Phillips Elementary School in Marietta.

¯ He was indicted for the following counts following another controlled buy on Nov. 7, 2017 by the task force at his home:

¯ Trafficking in heroin, a fourth-degree felony.

¯ Possession of heroin, a fifth-degree felony.

¯ Aggravated possession of drugs, fentanyl, a fifth-degree felony.

¯ Aggravated possession of drugs, morphine, a fifth-degree felony.

¯ Aggravated possession of drugs, amphetamine, a fifth-degree felony.

¯ Aggravated possession of drugs, alprazolam, a fifth-degree felony.

¯ He is also a co-defendant in a case from May 2018 with Chelsea Hayes, 26, of 715 Cisler Drive, Marietta, in which both face indictments for possession of heroin, a fourth-degree felony, and tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony.

Hawkins reportedly was in the car with Hayes on May 5 and during a traffic stop at Oakwood and Holly streets by the major crimes task force had Hayes hide the heroin in her pants.

Other indictments:

¯ Blake M. Keel, 26, of 1666 School House Road, Little Hocking, was indicted in two separate cases from this past spring.

An indictment for aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony, came out of a Feburary case after Keel was arrested on a warrant at his home and asked officers to place a sweatshirt of his on him after he was handcuffed.

“But once he got to the jail they found methamphetamine in the pocket of his sweathirt,” explained Washington County Assistant Prosecutor Amy Graham.

The second set of indictments for Keel included burglary, a third-degree felony, and theft of a check, a fifth-degree felony.

“In April he had stayed at David Decker’s home at 522 1/2 Third St. in Marietta and later that day busted open the door of the apartment and took not only his own property but also the Social Security card, some checks and a passport of Decker’s,” explained Graham.

¯ Chad W. Williams, 36, of 3093 Marwick Road, Columbus, was indicted for burglary, a second-degree felony, safecracking, a fourth-degree felony, grand theft, a third-degree felony, grand theft, a fourth-degree felony, and grand theft of a motor vehicle, a fourth-degree felony.

Washington County Prosecutor Kevin Rings explained that in September 2017 Williams is accused of stealing a Springfield 0.45 caliber handgun, small safe, money and collected coins from the Watertown home of Randall Townsend and also a child’s all-terrain vehicle from Kayla Davis, of Belpre.

“A short time later in Reynoldsburg officers early in the morning saw a car that had a small ATV in the back. They found Chad Williams in the possession of the Watertown victim’s items on him including a pill bottle with (Townsend’s) name and also a large amount of coins and between $15,000 and $16,000,” said Rings.

¯ Darianne N. Touvell, 23, of 242 High Ave., Byseville, was indicted for aggravated trafficking in drugs, a third-degree felony.

Touvell is accused of seling 10 grams of methamphetamine in a controlled buy to the Major Crimes Task Force on Dec. 10.

¯ Sherman L. Larrimore, II, 36, of 1308 Williams Ave., New Matamoras, was indicted for domestic violence, a fourth-degree felony, and abduction, a third-degree felony.

Larrimore is accused of abuse of his girlfriend Latasha Johnson at their home in New Matamoras and not allowing her to leave during the alleged incident on July 6. Larrimore faces the felony charge because of prior domestic violence convictions.

¯ Keith A. Huff, 34, of 127 State Route 821, Marietta, was indicted for domestic violence, a third-degree felony and criminal damaging, a second-degree misdemeanor.

Huff is accused of abuse of Valerie Yakeleqicz-Ortiz-Larroy, whom he lived with at the time of the June 13 alleged incident. He is also accused of damaging some of her property.

He faces the felony charge due to two prior domestic violence convictions.

¯ James R. Andrews, 33, of 90 Barrett South Road, Vincent, was indicted for domestic violence, a fifth-degree felony, and abduction, a third-degree felony.

Andrews allegedly abused his pregnant girlfriend Sarah Morris and held her against her will on June 17 in Barlow Township.

¯ Michael J. Campbell, 40, of 1037 Oak Grove Road, Waverly, W.Va., was indicted for improperly handing a firearm in a motor vehicle, a fourth-degree felony.

Campbell allegedly was in a scuffle at a local campground on July 8 in Belpre Township.

“Then he shot a round of his 357 Magnum off in his car to scare them,” explained Rings.

¯ Jason A. Kee, 38, of 250 County Road 129, Athens, was indicted for grand theft of a motor vehicle, a fourth-degree felony.

Rings explained that Kee took a vehicle for sale by Ryan Carper without payment or permission in July of 2016.

“Evidence shows that the key was actually stuck in the ignition and Mr. Kee drove off with the van Mr. Carper had for sale,” said Rings.

The van was later recovered in Kentucky.

¯ Gena D. Stalford, 54, of 310 Main St., Lowell, was indicted for burglary, a fourth-degree felony.

Silwani explanied that Stalford allegedly broke into the home of a former boyfriend, Michael Allen, at 2053 Laurel Ridge Road, to retrieve items of hers on June 14.

¯ Colton R. Balderson, 29, of 17184 Muskingum River Road, Waterford, was indicted for improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle, a fourth-degree felony.

Derkin explained that Balderson was pulled over for driving under a suspension of his license on March 19 and was found to have a loaded Springfield XD 9 milimeter handgun in his lap.

“He had (also) let his concealed carry license expire, so presumably he knew the rules about driving with a loaded gun,” noted Derkin.

¯ Lindsey L. Lightfritz, 29, of 955 Mitchell Lane, Marietta, was indicted for theft, a fourth-degree felony, and falsification, a first-degree misdemeanor.

Rings explained that in the summer of 2017 Lightfritz had agreed to trade her vehicle with another individual but after handing over the title and keys to Christy Myers, did not receive the other title and keys.

“This upset the defendant and so she took the car back, but knowing she had no title, on June 13 made a sworn statement at the BMV that she had lost the title,” he said. “Then she took the car and had it scrapped.”

Rings said the theft charge resulted because Myers was the legal owner of the vehicle regardless of the original agreement.

¯ Nicholas R. Easton, 29, of 2605 Core Road, Parkersburg, was indicted for two fifth-degree felony counts of grand theft.

Rings explained that Easton on two occasions in February and April called in false orders pretending to represent businesses and later picked up those orders, but never paid for the materials from either American Producers or Riverview Industrial Supply.

“In both cases the items taken were worth more than $1,000,” he said.

¯ Brandon L. Marcum, 25, of 1801 Old St. Mary’s, Parkersburg, was indicted for possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony.

During a 2016 traffic stop by Belpre police Marcum was allegedly found in possession of less than three grams of methamphetamine.

¯ Angelo A. Vance, Jr., 29, of 1720 Duff Road, New Matamoras, was indicted for possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony.

During a traffic stop by Marietta police on July 6, 2017, Vance was allegedly found in possession of eight oxycodone pills that could not be proved to be presribed to Vance.

¯ Joseph L. Rhodes, 30, of 222 1/2 Fourth St., Spencer, W.Va., was indicted for possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony.

During a traffic stop by Belpre police in December 2016, Rhodes was allegedly found in possession of less than a gram of methamphetamine.

¯ Co-defendants James E. Rust, 30, of 365 Elkin Road, Bowling Green, Ky. and Samuel A. Scarbrough, 32, of 912 Girkin Bowling Strings Road, Bowling Green, Ky., were each indicted for one count of possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony.

When stopping to help what appeared to be a disabled vehicle in January 2017, the Ohio State Highway Patrol found Rust in possession of hydrocodone and less than a gram of methamphetamine on Scarbrough, Rings explained.

“There was also three grams of meth found, but couldn’t be placed fully with either,” he added.

¯ Casey Troy Carpenter, 22, of 212 Maple St., Marietta, was indicted for theft, a fifth-degree felony.

Carpenter is accused of stealing a bicycle outside of the Lafayette Hotel in Marietta on June 7.

Silwani explained that because the victim is elderly, the theft is considered a felony.

¯ Tanner J. Smith, 23, of 901 Cisler Lane, Marietta, was indicted for aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony, and possession of cocaine, a fifth-degree felony, and co-defendant Aaron J. Sarver, 32, of 290 Congress Road, Belpre, was indicted for aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony, and possession of drugs, also a fifth-degree felony.

Silwani explained that on Oct. 14, 2016 during a traffic stop by Belpre police Smith was found in possession of 0.2 grams of methamphetamine and 0.22 grams of cocaine. Sarver was also allegedly found to have 0.2 grams of methamphetamine on him and the schedule-4 drug lorazapam, which became a felony charge because he has a prior conviction in trafficking.

¯ Jamie Michael Miranda, 44, of 416 Eighth St., Parkersburg, was indicted for receiving stolen property, a fifth-degree felony.

On Jan. 25, 2017 Miranda tried to cash a check for $4,692 at Citizens Bank in Little Hocking.

Graham explained that the bank became suspicious of the check and called the owner of the check to confirm he had written it.

“Mr. (Joseph ) Rousch said he had no idea who Mr. Miranda was,” explained Graham. “Thankfully Mr. Miranda had given the bank his ID when trying to cash the check and no money was ever given to him.”

¯ Jennifer L. Richards, 44, of 121 Rockland Drive, Williamstown, was indicted for two fifth-degree felony counts of possession of drugs.

On July 20, 2016, Marietta police were called to the Quality Inn with a report of suspicious activity behind the hotel.

Rings explained that Richards was found in possession of both methamphetamine and oxycodone when police arrived.

¯ Tyler J. Hafner, 20, of 122 Tennis Center Drive, Marietta, was indicted for possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony.

On June 7, 2017, the Ohio State Highway Patrol performed a traffic stop on Hafner, who was allegedly found with MDMA.

“He thought he was in possession of heroin,” explained Rings. “MDMA is a type of ecstasy date drug.”

¯ Co-defendants Darryl D. Gibson Jr., 34, of 4717 Samuel Blvd., Mesquite, Texas, and Anthony L. Duerson, 28, of 3519 E. 39th St., Indianapolis, Ind., were both indicted for forgery, a fifth-degree felony.

In July 2017, the pair allegedly wrote two fake checks at the Belpre Kroger for a total of approximately $214.

The checks were later discovered to be forged and sporting a false account number.

¯ Kelly M. Price, 34, of 407 E. Montgomery St., Marietta, was indicted for theft, a fifth-degree felony.

Price allegedly called Peoples Bank pretending to be a member of her boyfriend’s family in the summer and fall of 2016 and transferred more than $1,000 into her own bank account without permission.

¯ Jeremiah J. Lyons, 36, of 19 South Sixth St., Parkersburg, was indicted for receiving stolen property, a fifth-degree felony.

Lyons is accused of stealing a set of golf clubs from a Marietta home in July 2016.

¯ Tricia A. Martin, 33, of 708 Front St., Marietta, was indicted for aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony, possession of drug instruments, a second-degree misdemeanor, and obstructing official business, a second-degree misdemeanor.

Martin is accused of having trace amounts of methamphetamine in both a syringe and a spoon in her purse when found late at night on June 30, 2017 at a car wash on Gilman Avenue.

Rings said video surveillance confirmed the purse found with the drug abuse instruments was Martin’s though she reportedly denied this to Marietta police.

¯ Randall L. Wilson, 59, of 510 Cutler St., Marietta, was indicted for passing bad checks, a fifth-degree felony.

Wilson’s $2,000 check for rent in Marietta on June 27, 2017, bounced and Wilson did not make appropriate attempts to pay, Washington County Assistant Prosecutor Joe Derkin said.

¯ Chelsea Hayes, of 715 Cisler Drive, Marietta, was indicted for failure to appear, a fourth-degree felony.

Hayes was not present for a final pretrial for other drug charges on July 5.

¯ Lorena A. Smith, 40, homeless, was indicted for failure to appear, a fourth-degree felony.

Smith was not present for a final pretrial for a burglary and theft case scheduled for July 5.

¯ Chrisopher Shackleford, 18, of 205 W. Fifth St., Williamstown, was indicted for two counts of receiving stolen property, the first a fourth-degree felony and the second a first-degree misdemeanor, plus one second-degree misdemeanor indictment for obstructing official business and first-degree misdemeanor for contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Shackleford and a 16-year-old minor are accused of leading local law enforcement through a vehicle chase in Marietta on April 19.

The pair ended up crashing the vehicle and running from law enforcement.

¯ Marlene V. Sekelik, 60, of 8682 Harris Highway, Bellville, W.Va., was indicted for two first-degree misdemeanor counts of assault.

Sekelik is accused of assaulting two friends in May. The case was originally bonded over from municipal court to common pleas, but Rings explained the grand jury only saw enough evidence to indict Sekelik on misdemeanors.

Rings said the case will be referred back to the Marietta City Law Director.
