Former Marietta resident named principal at Schmidt Associates in Indianapolis
INDIANAPOLIS — A member of a well-known Marietta family has been named a principal at Schmidt Associates, an Indianapolis-based architecture and engineering firm. “It is significant Schmidt Associates has named Ben Bain as a new principal. Inviting our associates to be new principals at the top management level isn’t something we do every day,” said Sarah Hempstead, CEO and a principal of the firm. “Ben, through his dedication to customer service, creativity and his experience has earned the additional role of principal.”
He is the son of Benjamin Franklin Bain II and Catherine Bain, and brother of Babette Bole, all deceased. His father was on the team that developed the computer systems for the Titan II missile systems. His mother owned and operated The Wine Shop on Front Street for decades. His sister worked at Campus Martius Museum and had a local catering business.
Bain joined Schmidt Associates in 2002 following a career in radio broadcasting. He now engages prospects and clients as the business development principal for the K-12 education studio. He works with educators ensuring the best for their students in often challenging conditions. He studied at Yale University and Leningrad State University.
Bain and his wife have three adult children.
