The Castle on Fourth Street in Marietta will host its annual Garden Party from 7 to 9 p.m. June 13 in the courtyard. The event will feature appetizers and pleasant jazz music provided by the Fifth Street Jazz Trio among the beautiful Castle gardens. Attendees can win two complimentary tickets to the Cultural Caravan, a trip to Chillicothe that will include tickets to the Tecumseh show and more. Tickets are $30 and will be available at the door, or they can be purchased online at mariettacastle.org/events.
The Marietta VFW Post #5108, located at 319 Pike St., will host a hoe down square dance, line dance and round dance from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Wednesday featuring 4 Hits & A Miss Country Band. The cover charge is $4.
The Marietta City Schools Board of Education will hold a special meeting at 9 a.m. Friday at 111 Academy Drive in the Board of Education office. The purpose of the meeting is to hire administrators for the next school year and to update the administrative salary schedule.
Beginning this Friday, NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) Washington County will offer NAMI Connection, a free peer support group for adults living with mental illness. The first Friday session will be from 1 to 2:30 p.m. and the second Friday session will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The groups will meet at the First Presbyterian Church in Marietta in the second floor library.

The 2019 Garden Plant and Bake Sale will be held June 16 from 1 to 5 p.m. at Marietta’s Unitarian Universalist Society, 232 Third St. Proceeds go to the maintenance of the society’s 1857 Gothic Revival building. From 2 to 4 p.m., the annual Bloomsday will take place in the church courtyard or in the fellowship hall in case of rain. Parking is available in the Huntington Bank lot, but guests are asked not to block the ATM and night deposit lanes.
