Keep Republicans in control of Congress

2 min read

Will Rogers, who lived before free speech was eroded by correctness, political or otherwise, once said that, if you don't pay attention to the news you are uninformed; if you do you are misinformed. So the issue of "fake news or media bias" has been around for a while. Multiple people and news organizations have said that Hillary won the popular vote, she did not, the majority (greater than 50 percent) of voters did not want her, nor did the majority want Trump, Bill Clinton either time he ran, or "W" one of the times he ran. The Electoral College was designed to help us find someone who will make all sides compromise, for the good of the entire country, not just the district you or I live in, that's why you need a majority of the Electoral College to be President of the United States. It is not perfect, but has served us well.

Health care is an area where popular is not always fiscally responsible. You need to get ready for the state budgets to explode when the Medicaid Expansion has to be funded by the states, look what it did to the federal deficit. Nobody seems to remember the Obama impaneled Simpson-Bowles Committee on Fiscal Responsibility, which found to sustain our current spending growth and debt everyone that works will need to pay 80 percent in taxes in the future, there just aren't enough rich people to pay for everything. The Democrats for 10 years have said they will fix Obamacare, I have not seen them attempt to do so, let alone balance the budget.

I was at a conference earlier this month where a DEA spokesperson reported that approximately 80 percent of the manufactured opioids for the illegal drug trade originate in China and are being smuggled across the Mexican border. Do you still think getting tough on China and having a secure border with Mexico are bad ideas?

I am an Independent who is taxed enough already. You have to make your own decisions, but on a national level I'm voting for the Republicans this election.

To paraphrase Mr. Rogers, what's the difference between death and taxes? Death won't get worse if you elect a Democratic-controlled Congress.
