Annual Beverly/Waterford Homecoming The Annual Beverly/Waterford Homecoming presented by Russell Chadwick American Legion Post 389 will be today and Saturday, at Dodge Park. Today, there will be a garden tractor pull with registration at 5 p.m. and the pull starting at 6 p.m. Also today will be music by the Matt Hansell Band from 7-10 p.m. On Saturday, the park opens at noon, the King of the Asphalt Tractor Pull will be at 1 p.m., free kid rides will be from noon to 2 p.m., the hot dog eating contest will be at 4 p.m. and there will be music by Jesse Lang and friends from 5-8:30 p.m. ...

‘1776’ performance to change locations

The performance of "1776" presented by the Actors Guild of Parkersburg in partnership with Downtown PKB and America 250 will be changing locations today from Bicentennial Park to the Center on Market/Wood County Resiliency Center, 328 2nd St., Parkersburg. The change is due to expected high temperatures and extreme heat warnings by the National Weather Service. The performance is free to the public and no tickets are required to attend.

Ohio Supreme Court upholds utility commission decision allowing coal plant bailout fee

The Ohio Supreme Court upheld a decision last week that, according to its challengers, allowed utilities to overcharge customers to the tune of roughly $115 million. It brings an end to a narrow dispute that started in 2021 but has its roots in the Ohio House Bill 6 scandal. Two groups challenged a fee, established by H.B. 6 and tacked onto Ohioans’ utility bills, to bailout two coal plants.
