Derkin, Coil appointed to run for seats in November

The Washington County Republican Central Committee on Monday appointed Joe Derkin as both prosecutor and the GOP nominee for the same position on the November ballot. At the same meeting, held at the Washington County Emergency Operations Building, committee members unanimously approved the certification of Washington County Common Pleas Court Judge Nicole Tipton Coil as a candidate for that post this fall, according to Lyndsay Dennis, secretary of the central committee. Marietta Main Street slates Summer Shop Hop for Saturday

Marietta Main Street will celebrate the start of summer on Saturday with the June Shop Hop from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. downtown. Nearly 20 businesses will participate, with every purchase at one of those establishments earning a raffle ticket for a chance to win a prize basket. Participating businesses will be highlighted by balloons outside their entrances and will be offering special promotions, sales and discounts.
