Washington County grand jury issues indictments

Two men from Akron were indicted on drug charges Monday by the Washington County Grand Jury. Zaire Cortez Edwards, 18, 1771 Gaylord Drive, Akron, and Stephan Paul Combs, 39, 1604 Paul St., Akron, were charged in a joint indictment and were among the 21 defendants indicted by the grand jury. Combs was charged with trafficking in a fentanyl related compound and possession of a fentanyl-related compound, both third-degree felonies. Career Center gets grant from Ohio and Gov. Dewine

A local school has received funds to help career and technical education in Washington County. On Monday, Gov. Mike DeWine and Lt. Gov. Jon Husted announced recipients of the Career Technical Education Equipment Grant. A total of 56 schools will receive more than $67.7 million and the funds will help expand career technical education to an additional 10,345 students, according to a media release from the governor’s office.
