Alvera Spare, 83, of McConnelsville passed away July 8, 2026 at the Marietta Memorial Hospital in Marietta. She was born November 28, 1942 in Johnstown, PA., a daughter of the late Carl Marcus and Josephine Verba Marcus. She was a homemaker and was a member of the former Grace United Methodist Church and was a current member of the McConnelsville Methodist Church. She had worked as a part-time babysitter for local families and enjoyed cooking and sewing. In 1976 she was 1 of the 100 finalists in the Pillsbury Bake-Off held in Boston. Helen M. Russell, 89, of Belpre, Ohio, died Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at her home. A celebration of life service will be observed at a later time. McVay-Perkins Funeral Home in Caldwell is caring for the family.

Agatha L. Schell, 93, of Akron, formerly of Senecaville, passed away Thursday, July 2, 2026, at the Justin T. Rogers Hospice Care Center in Fairlawn. The family will receive friends for visitation from 4-8 p.m. Friday, July 17, at Chandler Funeral Home, 609 West St., Caldwell. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 18, in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Eastern Cemetery in Summerfield.
