High school students honored by Kiwanis Club of Marietta

Marietta high school senior Kiera Starcher, received the Lester E. Noe Scholarship from the Kiwanis Club of Marietta. She received the award based on her grade point average and service contribution to the Key Club and the high school.

Kiera received $1,000. During her four year membership in the club and president for two years, she increased club membership and participation including developing new projects. Kiera plans to attend West Virginia University Parkersburg to receive an associate of science in biology and then transfer to West Virginia University to receive her bachelor in ultrasound technician. She is the daughter of Melinda and Jesse Starcher.

Abby Miller received a $500 Marietta High School Key Club scholarship. As a member of Key Club for four years and secretary, Abby has attended all Key/Kiwanis since 6th grade.

She contributes by attending all service events out of school and helps coordinate in-school projects. Abby plans to attend Ohio University majoring in exercise physiology pre-physical therapy. She is the daughter of Lisa and Wade Miller.

Waterford High School Scholarship Recipients

Shelby Wagner received the $1,000 Kiwanis Key Club Scholarship. Shelby has served as president of Key Club. She has also been vice-president of her class and a member of Student Council for four years. She joined Waterford High School’s National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society and is Valedictorian of her class.

Earlier this year, she won the Franklin B. Walter All-Scholastic Award and represented Washington County at the annual Ohio Educational Service Center luncheon. Shelby will attend Marietta College to complete her undergraduate studies and earn her bachelor of science in health science. Afterward, she will enter the physician assistant program and join the medical field. Shelby is the daughter of Jennifer and Joshua Wagner.

Olivia Schott received the $500 Kiwanis Key Club Scholarship. She has been in Key Club for three years, President for one year. She has helped at the Kiwanis Pancake Day and created a basket for the raffle. Olivia was a member of the National Honor Society and Spanish NHS for two years, Student Council for three years, class secretary for four years, yearbook for three years, editor for one year and was a member of the softball team.

Olivia is attending West Virginia University to study Pre-Pharmacy, eventually entering the Pharmacy program. She is the daughter of Laura and Joe Schott.
