Belpre house catches on fire late Tuesday
BELPRE — A house fire on Beauseaux Street in Belpre late Tuesday night left residents unharmed but claimed the lives of several pets, according to the Belpre Volunteer Fire Department.
Assistant Fire Chief Jeff Rafferty said crews were dispatched around 9:11 p.m. after reports of the blaze. Belpre Police also responded to the scene.
“All of the people involved were okay,” Rafferty said. “Some pets did get out, but unfortunately some perished in the fire.”
The cause remains undetermined, Rafferty said, and an official update may not be possible due to the extent of the damage.
At the time of the fire, the department was already responding to a transformer fire on Florence Street that had caused power outages in the area. Firefighters left that call to respond to the Beauseaux Street home.
The fire was described as “fully involved” when crews arrived. No additional injuries were reported.
The incident remains under investigation.
