Washington County Commissioner James Booth announced his impending resignation from the board of commissioners during Thursday’s regular meeting.
“My hope is that I have served you as well as I could,” said Booth. “I’ve always tried to be humble and think before reaching a decision and how it would affect the people I was elected to represent.”
First elected in November 2020, Booth did not provide a specific date for when he will step down.
The county’s Central Committee will have up to 45 days upon his official resignation date to appoint a commissioner to fill his position.
