Mid-Ohio Valley Heritage Quilt Show announces winners

PARKERSBURG — Winners have been announced in the Mid-Ohio Valley Heritage Quilt Show that ended Sunday at the Blennerhassett Museum of Regional History in Parkersburg.

Seventy-four quilts were entered in the 21st annual show, Brenda Wentzel, show organizer and coordinator, said.

Overall Best of Show went to Beverly and Bill Javins of Charleston for “Rainy Night.”

Best Hand Quilted was titled “Serenity” by Geneal Bailey of Leroy, W.Va., which also received the Superintendent Award.

“Sawtooth Cats” by Sue Barnhart of Belpre was judged Best Machine Quilted Manual.

Best Machine Quilted-Computer for “Medallions of Midas” went to Pat Rawson of Belleville.

Sally Maddox of Marietta received the People’s Choice for “Modern Flower Garden.” The award is voted on by visitors to the show.

Next year’s show will denote the 250th anniversary of the United States with the theme 250 Years of Quilting in America, Wentzel said.The show will be held from Nov. 7-15, 2026.

“The theme was chosen to express how fortunate we are to live here in America with all the advantages we have,” she said.

Wentzel, has chaired the show for many years, said planning for the 2026 event has already started.

“It’s a project,” she said.
