Belpte Township Trustees meeting
The Belpre Township trustees will meet at 6 p.m. the first Monday of the month at 335 Baker Road, Little Hocking, plus a second meeting at 8 a.m. on the 15th of each month. If the 15th is on a Saturday, the meeting will be held at 8 a.m. Friday the 14th. If the 15th is on Sunday, the meeting will move to 8 a.m. on Monday the 16th.
Muskingum Township Trustees to meet
The Muskingum Township trustees will meet at 7 p.m. the first Monday of the month (except Sept. 2) with odd months’ meetings held at the town hall and even months at the Oak Grove Fire Department. A schedule of meetings can be found at muskingumtwp.org. The 2025 Annual Financial Report is available by contacting the township at 740-373-0189 or muskingumtwp@muskingumtwp.org.
Salem Township VFD ice cream social
The Salem Township Volunteer Fire Department will hold its annual Ice Cream Social at 4 p.m. June 6, at Salem-Liberty Elementary School. The menu includes ice cream, baked steak or chicken thighs, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, applesauce, bread and butter, hot dogs, desserts and beverages. There will be a country store open from 4-7 p.m. and then drawings will begin. Bingo will also be from 4-7 p.m. There will be bounce houses open from 4-7 p.m. and other playground equipment will be available. Entertainment will be provided by Pick’n on Country at 4 p.m.
Beverly/Fort Frye Alumni Banquet slated
The Beverly/Fort Frye Alumni Banquet will be June 13, at the Fort Frye High School Gymnasium. Social hour will begin at 5 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at local businesses in the area or you can email your information and the year you graduated with your maiden name to bffaa@fortfrye.org and send your check to PO Box 1313 Beverly, OH 45715. RSVP by June 1.
Samuel R. Cook Safetytown coming up
The Annual Samuel R. Cook Safetytown program will be held from June 15-25, at Phillips School, 300 Pike St., Marietta. This comprehensive nine day safety training program is available free of charge to all area children who will be 5 years old by Aug. 1, or have just completed kindergarten but have not yet attended Safetytown. Professional teachers and well-trained instructors help children learn important safety concepts such as automobile and bicycle safety; water, electrical and chemical hazards; fire safety, pet safety and much more. Children may attend either the morning session from 9 a.m. to noon, or the afternoon session from 1-4 p.m. Applications are available at each local elementary school. Registration is also available online at the Marietta Rotary Club Facebook page. Questions may be directed to Kathi Carr at 740-374-6520. Application deadline was May 22. O’Neill Center hosts dementia support group
A dementia support group is held at the O’Neill Center on the first Friday of each month at 10 a.m. This group is intended to assist families affected by Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias by helping them build a strong support system, openly discuss their challenges and find practical solutions. Guidance on coping strategies is also provided in addition to community resource connections. This support group is offered in partnership with Right at Home and Cawley Hospice.
