Bunner gets 120 days on possession, obstruction

From staff reports

An Athens man was sentenced to 120 days in jail Thursday morning on possession of methamphetamine and obstruction of official business.

James M. Bunner, 37, of 16640 Thompson Ridge Road, Athens, pleaded guilty in October 2018 to one count of possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony, and one count of obstruction of official business, a second-degree misdemeanor.

A warrant was issued for his arrest in December 2018 after he failed to appear for his sentencing. He was arrested Aug. 16 by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and was held without bond until his sentencing Thursday in the courtroom of Washington County Common Pleas Judge Mark Kerenyi.

“He received 60 days in jail on the charges and 60 days for not appearing,” explained Washington County Assistant Prosecutor Joseph Derkin.

He added the maximum Bunner could have received was six months in jail.

Starting at $2.99/week.
