Franciscan community meal deliveries have resumed and are taking a few new customers. If you previously received meals but stopped, call the volunteer office to restart. Hot and cold meals are $3 per day and delivered Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Volunteer opportunities are available for office work or delivery drivers. The Washington County Health Department will be closed july 3 in observance of the July 4th holiday. Offices will reopen July 6 with regular business hours.
The Castle has scheduled its first Cemetery Tour of the 2020 season for 10 a.m. Saturday. The tour will commemorate the country’s 244th Independence Day and will begin at Mound Cemetery located at Fifth and Scammel streets. The cost is $10 and advance reservations are required. The annual budget for 2021 for the Village of Lower Salem will be presented at the regular meeting of council to be held on July 14 at 7 p.m. at the Village Hall. All area residents are invited to attend.
