DAVISVILLE — Amazon is opening a last-mile facility on Polymer Alliance Zone property in Davisville.
A recent post on the Wood County Economic Development Facebook page said the company’s facility will be about 70,000 square feet and the organization had been asked to post about their open positions.
The post references the Amazon Flex program, in which people earn “extra money” by delivering Amazon packages. It does not specify how many people might be hired or how many full-time positions the facility might have.
Wood County Economic Development Executive Director Lindsey Piersol could not immediately be reached for comment Friday evening.
A message to Amazon was also not immediately returned Friday evening.

The Polymer Alliance Zone is an organization that promotes development in the polymer and related industries and owns property off West Virginia 47. PAZ President Keith Burdette said he was limited in what he could say about the facility, including which company was going to be there.
“They have built a building in our industrial park in Davisville, and they have started soliciting” to hire people, he said. “Their construction company was remarkable. They built that building in 10 months.”
Signage on the door of the new facility and directing truck drivers at the property bears the Amazon logo.
Wood County Commissioner Jimmy Colombo applauded Burdette’s efforts to make the development possible.
“He did a great job of working with all the principals involved, including the state of West Virginia,” Colombo said.
