The Injection Well Task Force, which was passed in a unanimous vote as Resolution 79 during the regular council meeting last Thursday, stemmed from growing concerns over the Ohio Division of Natural Resources’s injection well permits. The meeting drew over 80 individuals with hours of comments in regards to how ODNR handles injection well permits.
Resolution 79 was amended prior to the meeting to broaden the committee’s oversight beyond just the Stephan Well No. 1 but the Class I and Class II injection wells, too.
The Injection Well Task Force will review the proposed Class I and Class II wells affecting Marietta.
The task force, an ad hoc advisory committee to the Water, Sewer & Sanitation Committee, will be charged with gathering information on geology. The committee will then report their findings to the council at large.
