Washington County Career Center names October Students of the Month

The Washington County Career Center honors its October Students of the Month, Marina Johnson and Draven Stacy.
Johnson is a Warren senior enrolled in the Sports Medicine & Exercise Science program, and she is the daughter of Randy and Stephanie Johnson of Vincent.
At the Career Center, Johnson is a member of the SkillsUSA youth organization, student council, National Technical Honor Society (NTHS), and is the class recorder for her technical program. She was on the Career Center’s honor roll all last school year. At Warren High School, she is active on the varsity golf and softball teams.
In her career technical program, Johnson has or will earn industry-recognized credentials or certifications for Automated External Defibrillator (AED), Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), First Aid, Stop the Bleed, and the Physical Therapy Technician Certification (PTTC). Through College Credit Plus, she has or will earn both high school and college credit for American national government, careers in health care, English composition, first aid-personal safety, health & fitness foundations, intro to exercise science, introduction to human diseases, introduction to nutrition, medical terminology, psychology, resistance training, and statistics. Johnson is taking course offerings and learning skills for athletic injuries & prevention, exercise & athletic training, nutrition & wellness, and sports exercise psychology. Sports Medicine & Exercise Science instructor, Lauren Copen, commented, “Marina is an includer of all people. She is kind, authentic, and always willing to help when not even asked.”
Johnson currently works at Hensler’s Market. Upon graduation, she plans to attend Hocking College for their physical therapy assistant program then transfer to obtain a bachelor’s degree.
Stacy is a Warren senior enrolled in the Graphic Design & Video Production program, and he is the son of Dennis Stacy and Stacy Shipwash of Marietta.
At the Career Center, Stacy is a member of the Business Professionals of America (BPA) youth organization. He was on the Career Center’s honor roll or merit roll all last school year. Last school year, Stacy placed thirteenth in the BPA regional competition for interview skills.
Through his technical program, Stacy has or will earn college credit or industrial certifications for the Adobe Creative Cloud software in 2D Animation, Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Digital Photography, Digital Storytelling, Fundamentals of Content Creation, Graphic Design, Live Streaming and Production, Video Capture, and Video Production & Editing. He is receiving technical focus and learning skills for creating & editing digital graphics, design techniques, information technology, multimedia & image management techniques, and video & sound. Graphic Design & Video Production instructor, Chris Palmer, commented, “Draven has a wonderful attitude and is a pleasure to have in class.”
Stacy is currently employed by McDonald’s and Rink’s Flea Market. He plans to either enter a branch of the United States military or attend college to further his career.
