Memorial Health System on Friday announced a partnership with Vesper Medical Transport to provide coordinated medical transportation between its facilities.

Maryland-based Vesper will manage and staff Memorial’s ambulance operations, according to a release from the health system.

“Our partnership with Vesper Medical Transport strengthens our ability to provide seamless, patient-centered care across every step of the health care journey,” said Daniel Moore, Memorial Health System’s senior director of outpatient services and nursing professional practice. “By combining our clinical expertise with Vesper’s operational excellence, we’re expanding access and ensuring patients receive the right level of care.”

Memorial does not have its own ambulance operation, instead working with local and regional ambulance services for inter-facility transport.

“As the health system continues to grow and our geographical footprint expands, we recognized the need for additional local control over logistics and the prioritization of patient movement throughout our campuses,” said Paige Smith, chief nurse executive and vice president of patient services for Memorial. “Establishing our own ambulance operations allows us to enhance coordination, improve timeliness and better support the clinical needs of our patients.

“Local and regional ambulance partners will continue to have an important presence in the area, and we remain committed to the strong, collaborative relationships that have been built over the past decade,” Smith said.

In addition to Marietta Memorial and Selby General Hospital, Memorial Health System includes Sistersville General Hospital in West Virginia, where a new facility is being built, and the campus in Belpre where a women and children’s hospital in partnership with Akron General Hospital is under construction. Memorial also has an Athens Medical Campus and offices in Parkersburg and Williamstown.

According to the release, Vesper is actively hiring EMTs, paramedics, lead paramedics and a dispatch professional for full- and part-time positions.

“We’re proud to partner with Memorial Health System to serve the Mid-Ohio Valley,” said

John Hardesty, PHI Medicine and Vesper Medical Transport’s chief administrative officer.

Additional information about the jobs is available on Vesper’s website.

Starting at $2.99/week.
