Marietta council committees look at legislation

Marietta City Council's Employee Relations and Finance committees had a joint meeting Monday night to discuss legislation for Thursday night’s regular council meeting. Budget Director Mitch Dimmerling stated that he will be allocating funds once a quarter instead of waiting until the end of the year and will be requesting emergency legislation to be brought up at Thursday night’s meeting. Airport Authority gets $240K for lumber

WILLIAMSTOWN — The Wood County Airport Authority received more than $240,000 from a contractor in exchange for cutting trees on the property and selling the lumber during Tuesday’s meeting. Airport Manager Ben Auville said the airport received two bids for the project. The first was from Mack Haessly Jr. and Tusco Hardwoods, who offered to pay $242,316 up front and cut certain types of trees that grew over 18 inches.
