President Eisenhower was no radical
If you are obtaining your news from any of the major television or radio networks and/or the propaganda channel, you are not getting an honest deal.
If you accept the broadcasts as truth, you are being misinformed. These reporting sources are undermining democracy with their allegiance to their corporate elite employers.
What the corporate media are interested in is protecting their profits. When they speak of “radical” and “left-wing” ideas and positions, look through them, think about the issue.
Protecting, maintaining, increasing Social Security, growing the minimum wage, providing universal health care are mainstream views. Protecting the environment and demanding equality in wages are centrist, moderate stances.
If you think otherwise, I offer you these planks from the 1956 Republican platform: Provide federal assistance to low-income communities; Protect Social Security; Provide asylum for refugees; Extend the minimum wage; Improve Unemployment Benefits system so it covers more people; Strengthen labor laws so workers can easily join a union; Assure equal pay for equal work regardless of sex.
President Eisenhower’s campaign won with these issues.
