Stop and smell the roses
Sometimes it seems easy to criticize and find fault with those who fill leadership roles. I think it’s important to stop and smell the roses from time to time.
I’m grateful for all the efforts that Mayor Schlicher and Steve Wetz have done to manage our resources and get us back on track in Marietta. One of the things that our mayor promised was to work to make our town more presentable.
If you stop and reflect on Marietta today you will find cleaner streets, fewer blighted homes, and grass being maintained on city properties. One glaring example of this transformation can be seen at the intersection of 7th and Putnam Street.
The administration’s wisdom in hiring Geoff Schenkel has led to funds being raised and used to improve areas such as the levee area. This project will be a great asset to the community in the years ahead without having added expense for upkeep (unlike the Aquatic Center).
The current city administration has served as a model for openness to the community. I’ve lived here long enough to know that some mayors only appear briefly at election time. Our Mayor and Steve will talk to you if you call their office.
Thank you, Mayor Josh, Steve and Geoff, for all your efforts to raise the standards in our city. Your efforts are seen and appreciated!
