Town Hall

As you may well know, a Town Hall was recently held at the Marietta Armory on Thursday March 27, 2025. Noticeably missing were our elected United States senators and our US representative. They were invited, but they declined to attend the meeting. Also noticeably missing were any journalists from the Marietta Times. And as far as I am aware, there was no mention in the Times of the town hall before or after the event. Every day, our students are asked to stand for the pledge. They instinctively rise from their seats, turn to the flag with their hand in an area somewhat over their heart, and proudly recite those famous 31 words. In the past, it was so routine that it felt meaningless, but today I see a meaning. The meaning I see is a false, forced reality for many of our children. Spreading Hate

I read a letter to the editor about hate. The writer, Mr. Kalter, seemed to miss the fact that he was spreading a whole bunch of hate with the nonsense he was pondering on. I find the lack of self-awareness from the left very troubling. It is impossible to have civil discourse with anyone when they are so easily offended and resort to baseless name calling. This tactic is nothing but a logical fallacy that is designed to shut people up. For the common good

On March 1, the 25th annual Empty Bowls fundraising luncheon had its most successful year ever raising funds for area food pantries to help alleviate food insecurities in the Mid-Ohio Valley. All net proceeds go to the pantries. The Empty Bowls Committee would like to thank the many people and area businesses who made this year’s event a success. Lowering government debt

Everyone wants to lower the debt, if it doesn’t hurt them. You can’t just change small things and make much difference. President Trump has the right idea. You have to turn things upside down to do it. Why would anyone who is for the USA fight this? The Senate and Congress should all be for it. Government workers are not any better than farmers or anyone else.
