The power of the people vs. the people in power

I’ve watched the news with horror and sadness the killing of Renee Goode and Alex Pretti during the ICE protests in Minneapolis. I’m 85 years old and the only place that I’ve see anything comparable to this was in North Korea and Russia. Goode was shot three times in the face at point blank range through the windshield and open window of her car. Pretti was taken to the ground by at least six ICE agents and shot by two agents ten times. The first shots were in his back. His last act on this earth was trying to help a woman who had been pepper sprayed and knocked to the ground. ...

Elks Americanism

Recently, members of Marietta Elks Lodge offered a challenge to local students to compose and submit brief essays on the subject “What Does Service to Your Country Mean to you?”. This was open to students in grades 5,6,7 and 8. It was an honor and a blessing to have the privilege to get to read the words of these young people, and see what they have on their minds and hearts about their role in our Republic. Misinformation about injection wells continues, and we’re going to keep correcting it. Put it down to confusion or intentional misleading, I’m willing to give the benefit of the doubt. There are two key issues that are frequently portrayed inaccurately. Brine migration and radioactivity.
