Mid-Ohio Valley climate corner: How much are you willing to tolerate?

On Sept. 8 a brine truck carrying what was reported as drilling brine with zinc salts crashed on or near Mountaineer Hwy. near New Martinsville spilling 1260 gallons into a yard and a creek that leads to Little Fishing Creek which, of course, leads to the Ohio River. The truck could easily have been en route to injection wells in Ohio as seems to be customary. Given the number of miles these brine trucks seem to travel in our part of the world it seems inevitable that these types of incidents are going to happen periodically. Thanks for strategic planning input

Thank you to the more than 130 individuals thus far who have participated in the launch of our strategic planning process. We are already hearing common themes in the feedback provided both during the first input sessions on Jan. 26 and through our public survey. State officials protecting bureaucrats, not hardworking citizens

After reading the article in the newspapers that the state of Ohio is closing all Ohio Dollar General stores because of what they say are infractions. This “they” would be a group of bureaucrats who work for the DeWine-Husted administration in Columbus. These people would rarely, if ever, go to a Dollar General store but would drive ten miles to buy coffee at Starbucks. Or they may show up at a Dollar General ribbon cutting along with every other local bureaucrat and elected official and never return after that.
