Gracious gifts

At the Marietta Sternwheel festival, this year as in many other years prior the local skateboard community got together with a booth of information about the plans and condition of Marietta’s skateboard park. The skateboarders would like to thank the City of Marietta and the Town House on Front Street for their kindness and generous time and donations to maintain the cement skate park at Indian Acres park. Mihail Gorbachev has been referred to as the Last Soviet Leader, who was responsible for tearing down The Berlin Wall. Mihail Gorbachev introduced Glaznost (looking outward) and Perestroika (rebuilding) to than Soviet Union. It seemed to have awaken people’s consciousness to the world outside of Soviet Union. Bill Johnson is not a US Congressional representative, because he does not represent a number of populations in our Republican gerrymandered 6 Congressional district. Bill Johnson buries us in robo calls to join his “town hall meetings.” He does not show up in person except to vote against anything for the common human being in our (not his) district. Oak Grove Volunteer Fire Department would like to thank everyone that came out in support of our annual ice cream social held this year on Aug. 6. This year we featured the band Phase 2, our famous chicken dinners, homemade desserts from our community, ice cream, hot dogs, pizza, lemon shakes, inflatables and gun raffles. We also had several beautiful quilts made and donated by talented quilters in our area that were raffled off.
