The 12th Annual Ohio River Sternwheel Festival Memorial 5K Run and Walk was held on May 28. The event was a huge success because of the many run/walk participants, business sponsors, and assistance from local businesses, city government and other individuals. It’s the guns, stupid!

The United States alone has a problem with mass shootings and gun violence because we have made easy access to guns a national priority. It does not matter that the gun of choice for mass shootings is made for war. And it does not matter that we have different laws in different states because the result is the same. More children are now killed by guns than die of any other cause. The Legacy of Honor, a 501c3 organization whose mission is to serve our active military, veterans, first responders and their families in whatever way is needed is pleased to provide information onveterans and their families who were assisted over this Memorial Day weekend. I would like to share with you an opportunity that awakened consciousness. Once again, my older sister, Vera, her husband Olgerts and I traveled to Latvia. Latvia is the country of our birth. America is the country that has adopted us and among other things, America is the country that has given me among many other blessing an opportunity to share with you a small slice of our trip to Latvia. Thanks to Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell, 50 years of reproductive rights for women are about to be reversed. It looks like our right-wing Supreme Court will now dictate to women, especially disadvantaged women with limited resources, all things concerning pregnancy — even when a pregnancy is forced upon them.
