Little Muskingum Grange #2621 wishes to thank the sponsors of their catfish tournament and other events of the grange. The grange, founded in 1867, is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, fraternal organization that advocates for rural America and agriculture. The grange has a strong history in grassroots activism, family value, patriotism, leadership, and community service. Over the past several years the Marietta City School district has suffered through failed levies, school consolidation due to falling enrollment and the Covid-19 pandemic. Like many school districts in Ohio funding for schools has continued to be eroded by a reliance on property taxes and the failure of the Ohio Legislature to address school funding alternatives. Tragic defeat in Afghanistan may have been inevitable. History teaches us that the region has not been kind to any force that has exerted control on the region. Oak Grove Volunteer Fire Department would like to thank everyone that came out in support of our Annual Ice Cream Social held this year on Aug. 7. This year we featured the band Phase 2, our famous chicken dinners that included potato salad and baked beans, homemade desserts from our community, hot dogs, pizza, lemon shakes, inflatables, and gun raffles. We also had several beautiful quilts made & donated by talented quilters in our area that were raffled off.
