When the Warren girls line up for Saturday’s Division III state meet at Fortress Obetz, the moment will have been a long time coming.
It’s been 20 years since the Warriors last made it to state as a team. Ashlee Pate (21st; 19:52), Rania Singh (46th; 20:28), Adi Greenup (64th; 21:02), Hollyn Reed (70th; 21:14) and Cate Edgell (94th; 21:50) were the five who scored at the regional meet.
Pate finished 49th at last year’s state meet. She crossed in 19:10.83, which is the fastest time at the state meet by a Warren girl in program history.
Junior Luke Rettenberger will represent the Warren boys in Division II. At last year’s state meet, Rettenberger placed 46th with a time of 16:03.91, the second-fastest state meet time in Warren boys history. He finished third at regionals with a time of 15:35.
The lone D2 girl from the area going to state is Marietta junior Hailey Powell, who was 11th at regionals at 18:53.

Gavin Offenberger is also returning to the state meet. The Waterford senior placed 31st at last year’s state meet with a time of 16:14.48. He crossed in 16:26 at regionals, finishing fifth overall.
From Fort Frye, junior Brody Griffin is making his first trip to state. Griffin clocked in at 16:52 at regionals to place 14th.
Trophies will be given to all state champ and runner-up teams. Individually, runners who finish top 24 in their respective divisions will earn All-Ohio status.
