New salon on Greene Street

ERIN O’NEILL The Marietta Times Platinum Salon owner Trisha Glover, right, talks with Liz Talbott, left, as Brooke Drayer handles business on the phone. The co-workers branched out after several years together at Spalon of Marietta to offer a more accessible location to their clientele.

There is a striking new business on Greene Street that reflects the modern-meets-classic design aesthetic of its owner.

After working together for several years at Spalon of Marietta on Second Street, Trisha Glover, Liz Talbott and Brooke Drayer have moved to Platinum Salon, sandwiched between the Marietta-Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau and Star of India. The three have a combined experience of more than 50 years and will be joined by licensed massage therapist Renee Sargent.

“It’s a great location; we couldn’t be happier and our clients love it as well,” said Glover, who is owner of the business, along with her husband, David.

Talbott, who specializes in manicures, pedicures, permanent makeup, airbrush makeup and waxing, said she has older clients for whom the steps on Second Street were becoming a problem.

“My oldest client is 96 and she was actually in here yesterday and loves this location,” Talbott said.

The parking is on-street and next to the the CVB as well. Glover said that while they have set hours and retained about 80 percent of their clientele with the move, they will take walk-ins as well.

“We have only been open for a week but we braved it to be open during Riverfront Roar and we had a lot of walk-ins on Friday night,” Glover said. “We will try to take walk-ins when possible.”

Platinum Salon is open Tuesday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday by appointment.

The bold black, red and silver decor is carried throughout the location, which features private permanent makeup and massage studios, as well as a full-service restroom with shower for future additional services.

“We would like to add wraps and different things so we designed this all with that in mind, increasing services,” Glover said.

The idea to move into her own salon has been in the works for the better part of 10 years and when the location became available, the Glovers jumped at the opportunity. They began the process of moving in at the beginning of May.

Charlie Clay, 33, has been a client of Glover’s since he was 18 and he said that to see this dream come true is so amazing. Clay knows what it means to be a small business owner in the community as he owns Dad’s Primitive Workbench on Front Street.

“She cuts my entire family’s hair and has been doing my hair since I was 18 and she was at Sheila’s,” Clay said. “She’s a wonderful person and the way she is with her clients will be what sets her apart from others.”
