Warden lists priorities as sheriff

A release from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office welcomed Mark A. Warden as the county’s 44th sheriff.

The release said Warden officially took office on Monday bringing with him over 38 years of law enforcement experience and a steadfast commitment to community safety and transparency.

“I am honored to serve as the sheriff of Washington County and am dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of every resident,” Warden said in the release. “Together with my team, I aim to strengthen relationships with the community, enhance public safety initiatives and uphold the highest standards of justice. I will continue to base my decision on one simple principle: what can we do to serve the citizens of Washington County better?”

The release said the Sheriff’s Office plans to focus on key priorities, including:

* Expanding community engagement programs to build trust and collaboration.

* Addressing crime prevention through proactive and data-driven strategies.

* Supporting the professional development and well-being of deputies and staff.

* Promoting transparency and accountability within the Sheriff’s Office.

It said Warden’s career in law enforcement is marked by distinguished service and innovative leadership. Before the election, he served as Chief Deputy, where he was instrumental in implementing programs that reduced crime rates and fostered trust between the public and law enforcement.

The release said Warden’s vision for the office includes fostering partnerships with local organizations, schools and businesses to create a united front against crime and support programs that enhance public safety and quality of life.

It said the Washington County Sheriff’s Office is committed to excellence in public safety and that they take pride in providing professional law enforcement service by enhancing the quality of life through community interaction and partnerships, prevention of crime and efficient service to the public.
