Parkersburg Catholic announces homecoming activities

Homecoming week began Oct. 3 in Parkersburg Catholic Schools. The theme for the week is One School, One World, One Dream with an Olympic Theme. On Monday, the Dress Up theme is Americana with a pie eating contest at lunch. On Tuesday, the theme is Twin Day with a class dance off at lunch scheduled. Wednesday is Crusader Sports Day and the classes will compete in the annual powder puff football games. Thursday’s theme is Crazy Blue and White Day. Each class will be decorating their hallways throughout the week in the Olympic theme with different venues of Olympic sites. Classes will be judged for their creativity and participation.

The public is invited to the 3rd Annual Big Blue Bash on Friday, Oct. 7, from 6 to 10 p.m. at PCHS. (rain or shine) They will begin the evening with a prayer. A pulled pork dinner with all the fixins will be served from 6:30 to 8 p.m. ($10 adult and $ 8 child). Country Horizon and DJ Correct will provide live entertainment throughout the evening. Kids games, including a bouncy house and face painting, will be available, too. The event will end with a Bonfire – Meet the Fall Teams pep rally at 9 p.m.

The homecoming football game is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 8, at 1:30 p.m. at Stadium Field. The Crusaders take on Madonna. The crowning of the queen and king and prince and princess will take place in a ceremony before kick-off at 1 p.m. Parkersburg Catholic Schools announces the candidates for queen and king:

Emmie Bradley is the daughter of Mark and Tammi Bradley of Marietta. She is a member of Basilica of St. Mary of the Assumption. Her activities include Interact Club, RAZE, Big Buddy Program, class secretary, Senior Women’s Club secretary, National Honor Society, Yearbook, and is a competitive dancer with the Marietta Dance Academy. Emmie will be attending the University of Findlay next fall and majoring in occupational therapy.

Megan Ferch is the daughter of Anthony and Michele Ferch of Parkersburg. She is a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Her activities include Interact Club, secretary of Student Council, Yearbook, Varsity Softball, National Honor Society, Big Buddy Program, and Senior Women’s Club. Megan will be attending a four year college/university next fall and majoring in journalism.

Chloe Kern is the daughter of Patrick and Elizabeth Kern of Marietta. She is a member of the Basilica of St. Mary of the Assumption. Her activities include being a competitive dancer with the Marietta Dance Academy, Big Buddy Program, National Honor Society Tutor, Interact Club, RAZE, Senior Women’s Club vice president, class treasurer, and Student Council. Chloe will be attending a four-year university next fall majoring in biochemistry.

Abby Witucky is the daughter of Kevin and Jill Witucky of Marietta. She is a member of the Basilica of St. Mary of the Assumption. Her activities include captain of the volleyball team, senior class president, Senior Women’s Club president, president of Interact Club, Student Council, National Honor Society, Big Buddy Program, Yearbook, and Mintonette Sports National Volleyball Team. Abby will be attending Wheeling Jesuit University next fall studying nursing and playing volleyball.

Tenny Hill is the son of Mike and Sherry Hill of Marietta. He is a member of the Basilica of St. Mary of the Assumption. Tenny’s activities include marching band, concert band, pep band, baseball, basketball, handbells, and an alter server. Tenny will be attending Washington State Community College next fall majoring in computers.

Alec Hinton is the son of Mike and Brenda Hinton of Belpre. He is a member of St. Francis Xavier Church. His activities include football, basketball, Interact Club, National Honor Society, RAZE, and Big Buddy Program. Alec will be attending a four-year college/university next fall majoring in premed.

Andrew O’Callaghan is the son of Tammy O’Callaghan and the late Dennis O’Callaghan of Lowell. He attends Vienna Baptist Church. His activities include captain of the soccer team, president of Student Council, Big Buddy Program, member of the WV Baptist Convention’s Youth Ministry Planning Team, and Interact Club. His future plans are to attend Marshall University and major in philosophy or history.

Ryan Roedersheimer is the son of Mike and Teresa Roedersheimer and lives in Parkersburg. He attends St. Margaret Mary Church. Ryan’s activities include captain of the football team, basketball team, baseball team, weightlifting, sound crew, and RAZE. Next fall, Ryan will be attending a four-year college/university and he is undecided on his major.

Classes also picked attendants for each class. Junior class attendants are Emily Stewart and Joe Swisher, sophomore class attendants are Lauren Helm and Bryce Moore, freshman attendants are Marie Discini and Landon Fulton, eighth-grade attendants are Aalyaih Brunny and Drew Gill, and seventh-grade attendants are Taylor Isaly and Cary Roberts. The crown bearers are Sylvia Long and Dylan Cayton.

A celebration of 50 years of Crusader football will be celebrated at homecoming on Saturday as well. Past football teams will be introduced at halftime of the game. A gathering of former players and coaches is planned after the game at The NET.
