Three Dayton-area men were arrested this week for possession of more than one pound of meth and for several grams of fentanyl.
Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies conducted a traffic stop Monday on a Toyota Corolla with Texas plates in Devola near the intersection of Glendale Road and State Route 821 due to a traffic violation at the exit ramp of Interstate 77, during which they discovered a little more than a pound (457.84 grams) of methamphetamine and 57.70 grams of suspected fentanyl, according to a Sheriff’s Office media release.
According to the release, the deputies approached the vehicle and questioned the three men in it about their travels and learned from the driver, William Lamarr Lawson, 32, Dayton, Ohio, the men were traveling to Cleveland from Dayton and must have taken a wrong turn. The release said during the conversation the men denied having anything illegal items inside the vehicle and then a canine officer was deployed, who conducted a free air sniff and indicated on the passenger side of the vehicle.
Deputies removed the men from the vehicle and searched it and located a large bag of suspected methamphetamine on the rear floorboard and a cellophane baggie in the front passenger area which appeared to contain fentanyl, the release said.
The deputies arrested Lawon, Anthony Duan Downey Jr., 27, Dayton, Ohio, and KeAngelis Dai’Trell Render, 26, Trotwood, Ohio, as a result of the investigation, according to the release.

According to the release, Lawson was charged with one first-degree felony count of possession of fentanyl, one first-degree felony count of aggravated trafficking in drugs and one first-degree felony count of trafficking in drugs.
Downey was charged with two first-degree felony counts of trafficking in drugs and two first-degree felony counts of possession of drugs.
Render was charged with one first-degree felony count of aggravated possession of drugs, one first-degree felony count of aggravated trafficking in drugs, one first-degree felony count of possession of fentanyl and one first-degree felony count of trafficking in drugs.
The release said the men were transported to the Washington County Jail pending their appearance in Marietta Municipal Court.
According to municipal court records all three men were arraigned Tuesday morning and the release said their bond was set at $500,000 each.
