Two elementary staff confirmed cases

Marietta City Schools Superintendent Will Hampton has confirmed today that two elementary staff have also returned positive coronavirus tests. Parents were notified in a letter Thursday. "After reviewing the detail of the situation with the Marietta-Belpre Health Department, it was determined that only the individual(s) who tested positive [are] required to quarantine," he wrote. This announcement follows the quarantine of multiple MCS students participating in the before-school programming through the Marietta YMCA, including students from Washington Elementary School.

Businesses can apply for CARES assistance

Small businesses in Washington County can apply for up to $20,000 in assistance through the Washington County CARES Small Business and Nonprofit Grant Program. Announced Thursday at the Washington County Commissioners meeting, the program is designed to provide assistance to qualifying organizations and will be administered by the Buckeye Hills Regional Council. Wood BOE presents re-entry plan

PARKERSBURG — The Wood County Board of Education announced that parents will have three options in sending their children to school in a unanimous decision during the board’s meeting Tuesday at Jefferson Elementary Center. The process will start on Nov. 9 for elementary schools and the middle schools will take place on Nov. 16. Finally, high school will start on Nov. 30, due to the number of students at the three school levels. Trick or treat times announced

COVID-19 may have restricted events this summer, but kids will still get to don their favorite costume and hit up their neighbors for candy this Halloween. Trick-or-treating will be held Oct. 31 throughout the area, with various starting times.
