Marietta Police

Jan. 3

¯ An aggravated menacing report was received at the Marietta Police station. Police collected statements and evidence from the victim. The case remains under investigation.

¯ Police investigated a report of shoplifting at Walmart. A woman failed to scan $45 in items at the self-checkout. A summons was requested.

¯ Police responded to 401 Marion St. and investigated a tire being slashed.

Jan. 4

¯ Police went to Marietta Municipal Court, 259 Butler St., and arrested Andrea Lohoefener, 36, on two active warrants through the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. She was taken to the Washington County Jail and released to jail custody.

¯ A Marietta Police Detective responded to Selby Hospital to a report of a sexual assault victim at that location.

¯ Police met at the police station with a complainant who reported damage to the tire of her vehicle.

¯ Police responded to 101 Market Street in reference to a disturbance.

Jan. 5

¯ Police responded to a residence on Marigold Lane in reference to a theft by fraud. The investigation is ongoing.

Jan. 6

¯ Police conducted a traffic stop in the 800 block of Pike Street. During the stop, criminal indicators were observed and a drug-sniffing K9 was requested. A probable cause search of the vehicle revealed drug paraphernalia and drug abuse instruments. The driver, Joseph Franklin Wells, 32, was placed under arrest for possession of the items and transported to the Washington County Jail. He removed additional suspected narcotics and drug abuse instruments from his pants prior to jail entry.

Jan. 7

¯ Police were dispatched to Pearl Street in reference to a disturbance between a female and an unrelated male. During the disturbance, the male threatened to kill the female but fled prior to police arrival and was unable to be located. A warrant was requested on aggravated menacing charges.

¯ Police investigated the report of a man in the Kroger’s Center harassing customers. Jacob A. Miller, 46, was found to be intoxicated. He was issued a citation for disorderly conduct, escorted back to his hotel room and released.

¯ Around 5:15 p.m., police investigated a tire being slashed in the 700 block of Ninth Street. The suspect was identified and a warrant has been requested for his arrest.

Jan. 8

¯ Police were dispatched at 5:28 p.m. to the Locker Room bar to investigate a theft of services complaint. The owner had found somebody dumping excessive amounts of trash in the bar’s receptacles.

¯ Police were dispatched to Walmart in reference to a theft that occurred Jan. 3. Employees had stopped two teenage girls from shoplifting $900 in merchandise by under-scanning, but Walmart was able to track a previous date when the two successfully stole $353 in merchandise. The investigation is ongoing.

Jan. 9

¯ Police were dispatched to Second Street in reference to a domestic that occurred on Sheldon Avenue. After an investigation, police proceeded to a Sheldon Avenue location, where Dewaine William Mayle, 35, was arrested for domestic violence, unlawful restraint and resisting arrest.

¯ Police arrested Chaden Bruce, 20, at 1402 Colonial Drive for trespassing and disorderly conduct cease and desist. After he was ordered to leave he tried to hide behind trees and immediately returned when he thought officers had left. Drugs were discovered when he was taken to jail. He additionally will be charged for conveyance and possession of drugs.

¯ Police responded to High Street in reference to a missing 16-year-old female. Officers investigating learned she was picked up by Indigo Burgess, 18, who previously lived in Marietta but has now been living in the state of New York. The female’s mother had previously placed a restraining order against Burgess. On Jan. 10, Marietta Police coordinated with other agencies and the pair were captured in Maryland, fleeing south. Burgess is awaiting extradition back to Marietta on felony interference with custody and child protection order violation charges.

¯ Police were dispatched to Virginia Street in reference to a theft. Upon arrival, police spoke with a victim who said she believes her car’s catalytic converter was stolen. The incident is believed to have happened Jan. 4 in the early morning. The case remains under investigation.
