Silvus resigns as Marietta City Schools superintendent
Staff Reports
Marietta Local Schools Board of Education members voted unanimously to accept the resignation of Superintendent Brad Silvus tonight.
During a meeting tonight, the board voted to go into executive session at approximately 6:20 p.m. to consider the employment and compensation of a public employee or official and returned from the session at 7:55 p.m. Board President Sam Tuten then made a motion to approve the resignation of Silvus effective today and to approve a transition agree between Silvus and the board.
All board members were present and all voted yes on the motion. They also voted to appoint Marietta City Schools Director of Student Services Alison Woods as the interim superintendent effective Oct. 29.
The board did not discuss the reason for Silvus resigning, but a statement issued by the district after the meeting from the district said Silvus was not resigning due to any professional misconduct or impropriety but that he would be transitioning to offer consulting services to the district and this was a mutual decision between he and the board.
