Sewer Work on Franklin Street The Water Reclamation Department will be performing work on the 400 block of Franklin Street to maintain, repair or replace the sanitary sewer. Franklin Street will be closed to traffic between Putnam and Lancaster Streets. There will be no parking on either side of the street from 413 Franklin St. to Lancaster Street. The road will be closed until the repairs are completed. This may necessitate the use of heavy equipment. Washington-Morgan Community Action, schools get No Kid Hungry Ohio grants

MARIETTA — A campaign to combat hunger among children announced three local entities received funding to help provide summer meals in rural communities. No Kid Hungry Ohio awarded a combined $137,780 in summer meal grants to 10 organizations around the state. Locally, recipients included Washington-Morgan Community Action, Caldwell Exempted Village Schools and Noble Local Schools. Ohio State Highway Patrol investigating fatal Washington County head-on crash

WATERTOWN TOWNSHIP — A Belpre man was killed Monday morning in a two-vehicle crash on Ohio 339 near Plum Run Road, according to the Marietta Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol. The crash was reported at about 9:46 a.m. June 29. The patrol said Wyatt W. Jarvis, 20, of Belpre, was driving a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado northbound when he crossed the centerline and struck a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado head-on.
