MARIETTA - The City of Marietta has placed a proposal for groundwater monitoring wells on the back burner after determining they would provide little early warning of contamination from injection wells and could create another potential pathway into the city’s aquifer. According to a release from the Wood County Sheriff’s Office, deputies, firefighters and emergency medical personnel were dispatched just after 9 a.m. Friday to a railroad crossing at Harris Highway and Belleville Drive.
