First Baptist Church of Marietta will be celebrating 200 years of worship with an open house, an anniversary worship service and a concert, all open to the public. The open house will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8. The Traditional and Contemporary Alive services will be combined for a 10:30 a.m. anniversary worship celebration on Sept. 9. Beverly church to host free lunch The Beverly United Methodist Church will have its community lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 25. The church is located at 700 Park St. in Beverly. The church is handicapped accessible. This month’s lunch is being prepared by the Beverly Lions Club. We can’t always know why some things happen

Our granddaughters and I had just ordered a little Saturday restaurant lunch when the 9-year-old began to cry with stomach pain. I soon realized she was in unusual distress, so we immediately went to Physician’s Care. The doctor quickly responded to her urine sample with serious instructions to get to the ER, that he would call ahead to tell them we were on the way.
