Club’s event lifts local women and children
Last weekend included more than one essential fundraiser to support important organizations in the Mid-Ohio Valley. The Zonta Club’s annual Spring Unique Boutique in Reno served two purposes: it provided gently used clothing at great prices, and it raised funds for local scholarships, such as those for Washington State College of Ohio; and service projects, such as the EVE Inc. Delicates for Dignity project.
“We are an international service organization, and it’s our goal to advance the status of women and children on a worldwide level and a local level,” said Christine Lisk, treasurer of the Zonta Club and co-chair of the Unique Boutique.
Because our communities do such a thorough job supporting the organization, it is able to accomplish its mission to have a direct impact with its projects.
Support for EVE Inc., for example, means it can help those experiencing homelessness or domestic violence by collecting essentials including feminine hygiene products, bras and underwear.
Doing that work here fits perfectly with the Zonta Club’s focus on improving the lives of women and children globally AND locally.
“It’s helping people, and when you’re doing it locally, you see the results,” Lisk said. “So that’s a good feeling.”
Civic organizations such as Zonta continue to be a vital part of the support network our communities provide to those in need. And those who give are a vital part of the support network for those organizations. Thank you, to everyone who does what they can to support the Zonta Club mission.
