While the news is full of the ways that the Trump appointed Department of Government Efficiency is laying off and firing Federal workers at a breathtaking pace, little is said about exactly who these individuals are and what jobs they have held in the government. A recent news story did highlight the firing of a worker at the Veteran’s Administration who reported that he had never had any negative reviews and was puzzled as to why he was abruptly let go. Elon Musk’s radical attempts to disassemble our federal government must be stopped. As our elected officials refuse to step up and demand that an unelected billionaire be shown the door, it’s up to us, the American citizens. Marietta Area Recycling at a crossroads

MARC (Marietta Area Recycling Center) has served Marietta, Washington County and surrounding areas for nearly 50 years. A small, dedicated group of volunteers operate the center open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year through rain, snow, and sunshine processing 200+ tons of recyclablesannually. That is 400,000 pounds of waste diverted from landfills, streams, and our roadsides. Unfortunately, 50 years may mark the end for MARC. The Kiwanis Club of Marietta thanks the community for supporting the 69th Annual Pancake Days, held February 7 & 8, 2025, at the Elizabeth Sugden Broughton Community Building. Pancake Days is the club’s largest fundraiser and all the proceeds go back into our community. We are pleased we reached our goal of between $20,000-25,000 profit this year. The Club members served over 1,000 people in just 1 ½ days. Kiwanis is global organization of volunteers dedicated to improving the world one child and one community at a time. The clubs purpose is to promote human and spiritual values, ...
