5th Annual MOV Trunk or Treat

Please join us for the 5th Annual MOV Trunk or Treat. October 26, 2024 12-4pm at the Washington County Fairgrounds Marietta Ohio Some of you may know me and some of you may not— That’s okay. My name is Kassandra Erb and I am a momma of 2. I’m also a nurse and I love doing stuff and helping out the community. I have put this on the past 4 years out of the kindness of my own heart and do this off of donations and my own money. I want kids to be able to enjoy trick or treating. Halloween is my absolute favorite holiday of the year. If you know me you know how much I love ...

Vote Yes on Issue 1 to give the power back to the people

Ohio Issue 1, the Citizens Redistricting Commission Initiative, is on the ballot in Ohio as a citizen initiated constitutional amendment. Over 731,000 Ohio citizens signed the petition to put Issue 1 on the November ballot to form a commission made up of citizens not politicians to draw voting districts that create fair maps and done in a transparent way. Ohio is 1 of the 10 most gerrymandered states in the country because politicians are in charge of drawing voting districts, and they manipulate them to benefit themselves. The maps drawn by politicians have been ruled ...

Summer Report 2024

Summer #21 for The Right Path for Washington County did not disappoint! With so many events for youth and families we were blessed and grateful for all our partners and funders that made it all possible. Providing prevention services to youth is key to our mission of promoting healthy youth development and this is the reason our swim nights and youth farmer’s markets align with our goal. With 14 swim parties, farmer’s markets, backpack extravaganza and Recovery Day we could not make this happen without our community partners and funders. Media is a big part of promoting all our ...

Confusing signs

I have never felt the need to write a letter to the editor before, but that changed when I started seeing some of the political signs on lawns in Marietta. One of the political parties has decided that the more you can confuse the voter, the better chance you have of getting their vote! Some of the signs suggest voting “yes” on Issue 1 to stop gerrymandering. Others suggest voting “no” on Issue 1 for the same purpose. But voting “no” on Issue 1 actually supports the current method of determining district borders. As we have seen over the past few years, that method does ...

Expressing gratitude

I was driving from the Post Office on Market Street in Parkersburg to the Dollar Tree and there was a terrible noise on the left side of my Subaru Outback. Something was flipping and striking repeatedly on that side of the car. I was horrified, driving 20m/h. By the store I got out of the car and a man of middle age came up to me. He said: “Ma’am, the front tire on the left side of your car is completely flat. I can help you with that, I am a mechanic.” He was Jason Coldwell. It was 5:30 p.m., October 9, Wednesday. I looked at the front wheel on the driver’s side and I was ...

Vote

Dear Editor, Mr. Donald Trump was elected President in 2016. He and millions of his believers categorically state he was re-elected President again in 2020. Since Mr. Trump has already been elected twice, his name should not appear on the ballot in 2024 because no person can be elected more than twice to the office of President of the United States. Vote YES on Issue 1 to eliminate, or at least greatly reduce, the relentless gerrymandering in the State of Ohio. Passage of this issue will result in the creation of a committee representing Republicans, Democrats and Independents, that ...
