License suspensions continue to be a local problem

Recently, the Marietta Times ran an article and an editorial highlighting the devastating impact of driver’s license suspension in Ohio. Driver’s licenses in Ohio can be suspended for a wide variety of reasons, including debt-related issues. In fact, a recent study completed by the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland reported that roughly 60% of suspended licenses result from reasons other than driving infractions. Kudos to the Marietta Times for highlighting this problem. This problem has not gone unnoticed in Washington County. Now retired Marietta Municipal Court Judge Janet Welch ...

To the many folks in Washington County who express willingness to help our local Military Veterans, here is an immediate need and your opportunity to do something tangible and meaningful. Past czars ushered in years of suffering

Czars and Czarinas! Why do our government officials need to designate government appointees as Czars? Perhaps the title gives them power to do as they choose. So far, President Biden’s VP who is the border Czarina does not choose to visit the broken border. She is not alone, there are many others, such as transportation Czar and others. DEFENCE: a barrier intended to protect escape or intrusion or to mark boundary: such as barrier made of posts and wire or boards. We all have heard that “Fences make good neighbors!” Indeed, ...

Nohe, the right choice for sheriff

Leadership, experience and passion, this definition = Greg Nohe. We need more of this and Greg Nohe is the person who can deliver. New leadership with Greg leading will be beneficial as too many years of the “same old thing, we have always done it this way”. This makes for no future improvements, which I am sure we all agree. Greg is an Army veteran. A former paratrooper, and MP who served this country in Panama for two years and then finished his military time at Fort Bragg. He then came to the City of Marietta Police Department and worked his way up the ranks and retired as the ...
