Pave the roads

To Lower Salem Township trustees: I am very upset with the way the roads are taken care of in your township. Not only have you not cleaned out the ditches, but you also have not made the road able to drain in major rain and flooding. I am well aware that you have had the residents in your township come to meetings and plead with you to take care of their roads. I went down to Long Run Road on 5/12/2023 to see my parents who live there. Since LAST SUMMER when there was a flood the road has not been fixed. There is no drainage on the road. Past and present seem to co-exist. At times, we are reminded of something distant past by present circumstances. As I was listening to the News of the Day, there was discussion about loyalty. It immediately spurred me to think of a play I had seen many years ago, while we lived in PD (Displaced Persons) camp in Northern Germany. Many evening we saw plays presented by the camp residence. The most important business before President Biden and Congress is raising the debt ceiling. It was raised three times during the Trump administration with bipartisan support. The Republicans need to act responsibly — not push their own agenda instead of taking care of the nation’s business. Memorial Health System has decided in their corporate “wisdom” that they will discontinue service to New Matamoras’ satellite clinic and the clients there can just put up with it and travel downriver to St. Marys or go without health care! This town has had a doctor’s office since the mid-1800s serving the area and the needs of our residents. For the MHS to unexpectedly pull up roots and leave is unconscionable. Tsars and Tsarinas

We are “tossing” around words like “Tsars” and “Tsarinas” without paying any attention to the meanings of the words (titles). Clueless government officials who are elected by us the people cannot appoint tsars and tsarinas. Tsars and Tsarinas are born into their lifestyle. They can be compared to Kings and Queens. Marietta Earth Day Celebration

Mother Nature ended up being on our side for Marietta’s Earth Day Celebration on April 22 at Armory Square. This event was sponsored by Peoples Bank and the Marietta Area Recycling Center. There were 34 local and regional organizations that participated with free activities for all and information to make us more aware of the environment.
