Baffling people with BS is a job that the media and our government is very good at. They hop on a soapbox and tell you how to think after a tragedy and then who, or what to blame. The sad thing is most people buy the BS. We have seen evidence of this within the pages of this very paper. The facts don’t back up the rhetoric. There were 24,292 gun deaths in the U.S. in 2020 according to the CDC. Of those, 54% were suicides. Fifty-four percent equals roughly 12,500. That leaves us with 24,292-12,500=11,792. On behalf of the Washington County Harvest of Hope Board, I would like to thank all who contributed to a recent benefit for Ron Hazelton. Ron has been a faithful board member and a volunteer at the free community breakfast for nearly four years. Ron is battling a serious illness which can be very expensive even with good insurance. The benefit showed Ron and Bobbi the love and support that is needed to combat such an illness. Muskingum Valley Safetytown for 2022 has been completed. More than 83 children ready to enter kindergarten in the fall participated in the nine-day program. This was the 33rd year for this program.
