Blennerhassett Island plans seasonal hiring sessions

PARKERSBURG —Blennerhassett Island Historical State Park will hold seasonal hiring events from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays, March 2 and 9, at the Blennerhassett Museum of Regional History, 137 Juliana St., Parkersburg. Positions to be filled include docents, who serve as costumed tour guides for the mansion on Blennerhassett Island; maintenance workers; gift shop employees; and ticket clerks. Staff will be available to help fill out applications and answer questions. At this time, they will also be available for interviews.

Wood County Schools to cut workforce

ARKERSBURG — Wood County Schools officials say that around 168 positions - 103 professional and 65 service personnel positions - will be affected as the school system undergoes its annual reassignment and transfer process due to declining enrollment and loss of pandemic relief funds. The Kootaga District Friends of Scouting Campaign is off to a great start. The 2024 campaign began late January and is being chaired by Jimmy Asbury.
