Ripley student pulled off school bus with firearm, magazine, ammunition

RIPLEY, W.Va. — Two juveniles, ages 16 and 15, were in law enforcement custody Wednesday after one of them was found in possession of a gun and ammunition on a Jackson County Schools bus Wednesday morning. Jackson County Sheriff Ross Mellinger could not be reached for comment Wednesday, but he told other media outlets the juveniles are brothers and the older sibling stole the gun and gave it to the younger, who planned to use it to shoot someone. WSCC adds two certificate programs to curriculum

Washington State Community College is expanding its curriculum to include two additional in-demand information technology career pathways. Beginning in Fall 2022, students will be able to earn a one-year certificate in Cyber Security and Help Desk. The occupational outlook for careers in information technology is very strong, said a press release from WSCC. The federal government projects that there will be a 22 percent employment growth in the cyber security field nationwide, said the press release.
