Leaders must set an example

I am writing to you as a concerned member of our community to address an issue that is impacting the quality of education and extracurricular programs in our district: The need for improved leadership characterized by collaboration, empathy, and respect. “You may regret the things you’ve done, but you’ll regret a whole lot more the things you did not do”. The famous sentiment expressed by Mark Twain nearly two centuries ago. Many notables have capitalized on the same sentiment. Many of us know of J. Edgar Hoover, Barbara Bush, Lucille Ball, Marlene Monroe etc. more recent perhaps Simone Biles, (a gymnast). Thanksgiving Thank You

On behalf of the Norwood United Methodist Church, we would like to express our appreciation to the community for the help with the Thanksgiving Dinner. The volunteers who helped prepare and distribute the meal were invaluable. The generous financial donations provided help to secure the needed supplies. And the assistance from Warren’s IGA for cooking the meat was very much appreciated. Together, over 500 meals were prepared and provided to our community. Marietta Area Recycling Thankful

Thanksgiving is the start of a busy holiday season and no better time for the Volunteers at the Marietta Area Recycling Center (MARC) to express their thankfulness for all of the community support in 2024. You helped in making sure we maintained a 24 hour/7 day a week recycling drop-off site for our community and surrounding areas. This year had its weather challenges. It started with frigid temps that actually froze our plastics into the compacter and with the help of Randy our Rumpke Driver and Mondo Polymers we were finally able to unload. Looking forward to improvements

The election is over. Republicans have fully taken the wheel of the ship. I, for one, am excited to see how they can help! As someone suffering from poor outdoor air quality, I’m hopeful that President Trump and his allies in the Senate and House can solve this seemingly intractable problem which makes it challenging for me to breathe. I am sure that Trump understands that we all deserve clean air and pure water. We also need ways in which we can improve the air while rebuilding our economy. County Democrats Thanked

While the majority of voters in Washington County were obviously pleased by the outcome of the Nov. 5 election, there is a minority of voters who were more than disappointed. Democratic candidates are well aware of the challenges they face in running for office in this county, district or state. Yet they are willing to face these challenges, expend their time, energy and money because they believe that democracy and good governance demand checks and balances that our two-party system helps to insure.
