Examples we set in our public schools

As a landowner, taxpayer, and parent of school aged children, I am part of the ongoing debate among others like me about how our schools have changed for both the better and more times than not the worst. The complaints often range around behavior that is now tolerated on school campuses that would have never been allowed in years past. Most of the time these concerns are voiced about students behavior and the tolerance exhibited by school leaders, or policy that is changed without much if any public discussion. I want to encourage parents to attend your local school board meetings and ...

Supporting scholarships

I sincerely want to thank Wendy’s and Mr. Doug Terrell for helping the Alpha Rho Gamma Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa raise money for the Faye Treadway Service Scholarship at the Washington State Community College Foundation. I want to thank the following chapter members for their help and support: Stacy Jarvis, Rhonda Millron, Jennifer Wright, Frederick McKitrick, Kadin Crawford, and Ashur Pritchett. I also want to thank Santa and Buddy the Elf for making it so special for the children. This is the season for giving, and these scholarships are important as they help students be able ...

A Biblical viewpoint

When a political party calls evil good and good evil, promotes immoral sexual life styles, thinks you can change the sex you were born with, take parental rights away from parents and kill newborn babies even up until the time of birth, don’t think God just winks at this. Judgment is coming. If you bow to the wind you will reap the whirlwind. It is appointed to man once to die and after this the judgment. Hebrews 9:27 Great damage has already been done to our country by these ungodly policies. But there is good news for those who did this. If they will repent for doing these things ...

‘Ridiculous’ to compare Trump to Hitler

The Dec. 9 edition of The Marietta Times saw yet another opinion piece in a letter to the editor. In this piece, the writer compared former president Trump to Adolf Hitler. This is completely ridiculous! Whether one liked or disliked former President Trump and his policies, most reasonable people would agree it is ridiculous to compare Mr. Tump to Adolf Hitler. Although all people are entitled to an opinion about former President Trump’s policies, it is foolish to compare them to the vile and evil policies of Hitler. The entire comparison falls under the false analogy fallacy ...

Trump mimics Hitler

Every day Donald Trump mimics actions Adolf Hitler took nearly 100 years ago as he pushed the world toward 30 million deaths and murders. How are so many in this country failing to understand what a hateful megalomaniac The Donald is? Trump is laying it out there for everyone to see. A love affair with North Korea’s time bomb and nothing but admiration for murderer Putin. What’s not to like? It is disappointing that a person with such tiny fingers could again have control over nuclear weapons’ codes. If Trump wasn’t one of the largest dangers to the life of humans on ...
