Thank you for supporting The Right Path

The Right Path for Washington County is already looking ahead to summer 2024 and we want to thank all our community supporters who help us provide safe events for our youth and their families. Providing healthy behavioral choices, our youth farmers’ markets and summer pool parties help kids stay connected to their community. Resource sharing, role models and mentors allow them to know where they can go for help/assistance if they need it. Grants and fundraisers, as well as many community organizations, the WCBHB, Juvenile Court, MCF and individual donors contribute to our ability to ...

Check out The Civil War Round Table of the Mid-Ohio Valley

I want the general public to be aware of a great organization: The Civil Round Table of the Mid Ohio Valley. There are no dues, the meetings are every other month with a speaker covering a specific topic (donations accepted), and the meetings, times, and locations are published in The Marietta Times. My husband, Sam, and I just recently returned from a trip organized by the Round Table. The trip was five (5) days and four (4) nights into and around South Carolina where we visited Civil War and Revolutionary War sites. We all learned something new by visiting Camden, Mt. Pleasant, ...

Letter against Johnson ‘unhinged’

The author of a recent letter to the editor has been keeping a pretty low profile for a while. And there you have probably the nicest thing I am going to say in this response to his unhinged rant that appeared in the Nov. 29 edition (Johnson not ideal for Congress or YSU position). We often hear pundits lament the fact that our politics has become so angry and divided that a constructive dialog has become all but impossible. May I present Exhibit A in support of why that may very well be true: Aside from the fact that the author’s letter doesn’t really have a point (aside ...

Thank you for help serving 500 meals

On behalf of the Norwood United Methodist Church, we would like to express our appreciation to the community for the help with the Thanksgiving Dinner. The volunteers who helped prepare and distribute the meal were invaluable. The generous financial donations provided help to secure the needed supplies. And the assistance from Warren’s IGA for cooking the meat was very much appreciated. Together, over 500 meals were prepared and provided to our community. As Jesus said, what you do for the least of these, you do for me. May His love shine through this annual ...

World of Entitlement

Mr. Dave Rumsey’s good advice on “Pay Off Their Student Loans?” is sound. In a way, he is instilling self-respect in our young people as well as their parents. He calls government loans as “garbage”. He says, “That the whole thing works backwards for 30 years, and it’s the very definition of a stupid government program.” He is ever so right. All that breads is entitlement. Young people are lead to believe that if they are clever or tricky enough, they never have to repay government loan. W here is self-respect? It seems that Student Loan recipient are encouraged to be ...

Not supporting Ukraine is crazy capitulation

The United States has given over a hundred billion dollars to Ukraine to help them survive the brutal unceasing attacks and invasion of the Russians under the direction of dictator Putin. Nearly half of that has been military aid. The rest humanitarian. That is an avalanche of cash to you and me but it is less than half our NATO friends have given and it amounts to 0.65 percent of our federal spending for the year. Before we helped, Ukraine turned back the Russian murderers and rapists. Now with NATO’s , and our assistance, Ukrainians have driven them from much of which they ...
